Ukraine Strike Rocks Novorossiysk Grain Terminals, Global Food Supplies at Risk
A Ukraine-led strike has severely damaged two major grain export facilities in Russia's Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, disrupting operations and potentially impacting global food supplies. The assault targeted the Novorossiysk Grain Terminal and the Novorossiysk Bread Products Plant, critical sites for Russia's grain exports during the peak season.
Russian authorities reported that three people were killed in the attack, including a toddler, while Ukrainian officials stated it was part of their campaign to target Russia's military and economic infrastructure. Moscow accused Kyiv of endangering global food security, with Ukraine frequently accusing Russia of attacking Black Sea infrastructure to harm agricultural exports.
The strike has sparked concerns about Russia's role as the world's top wheat exporter, potentially leading to increased food prices and supply disruptions. The incident also damaged a Russian naval station in the harbour, where warships were reportedly damaged.
