Ukraine Strikes Russian Warships and Grain Terminals in Black Sea
A heavy assault by Ukraine on Russian warships and grain export terminals in Novorossiysk, a Black Sea port city, has left three people dead, including an eight-year-old child. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that 24 others were injured.
The attack targeted several major Russian fleet vessels, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who described the operation as a success. The Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov frigates, a large landing ship, and other vessels were struck in the assault.
Russia's Agriculture Ministry announced plans to redirect cargo flows to ports in the Baltic and Caspian Seas as well as land routes due to damage from the attack on grain terminals. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has sent global wheat prices higher.
