Ukraine Sunflower Oil Prices Plunge Amid Supply Glut
The sunflower oil market in Ukraine is facing pressure from an oversupply of agricultural products and falling prices for sunflower oil. According to Electronic Grain Exchange, purchase prices for new-crop sunflower seeds have declined by UAH 500-1,000 per tonne over the week.
In Ukraine's central regions, these prices currently stand at UAH 18,700-19,500 per tonne, including VAT, delivered to the plant. The main factors contributing to this decline are increased supply and difficulties exporting oil and meal due to limited rail and road transport capacity through western borders.
The export market is also facing challenges as negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on trade and logistics have yet to begin. Processing companies are under pressure from strikes on grain elevators and oil extraction plants, which has further eroded demand for sunflower seeds.
