Ukraine Surpasses Grain Export Target with Corn Driving Growth
Ukraine has exceeded its initial grain export target for this season, shipping over 3 million tons of grains and pulses since August 14. According to data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, this is a significant increase of almost 10% compared to the same period last year.
The country's wheat exports have actually decreased by 15%, with only 1.291 million tons shipped so far, down from 1.517 million tons in the same period last season. However, corn exports are driving the overall increase, with Ukraine shipping 1.403 million tons to foreign markets, a 70% increase over last year.
Despite this progress, grain exports have slowed sharply in August, with only 348 thousand tons shipped during the first two weeks of the month, compared to 1.153 million tons in the same period last season. This indicates the growing impact of maritime logistics disruptions on Ukraine's grain exports.
