Ukraine Wheat Production Rises, But Exports Held Back by War Logistics
The USDA has raised its estimate of wheat production in Ukraine for the 2026/2027 marketing year by 0.6 million tonnes to 26.0 million tonnes, citing record yields after the harvest was completed.
However, the export forecast was reduced by 1.0 million tonnes to 12.5 million tonnes due to slow shipment rates in August and logistical challenges caused by the war in the Black Sea region.
The global wheat production estimate was raised by 3.1 million tonnes to 822.4 million tonnes, primarily due to improved harvest prospects in Australia and Canada.
