Ukraine's Agricultural Exports Face Disruption as Port Issues Mount
The Ukrainian agricultural sector is facing significant challenges in exporting its crops due to disruptions at key ports. The USDA recently revised Ukraine's production forecast for grains and oilseeds to 85.7 MMT, but exports are expected to be lower than previously thought.
In August, the USDA cut its export forecast by 2.5 MMT to 42.6 MMT, while ASAP Agri also lowered their forecast from 48.6 MMT to 45.8 MMT. The Economy Ministry has reduced its grain export forecast to 38-40 MMT.
The main issue is the disruption of exports through the Greater Odesa ports, which are Ukraine's main export channel. Russian attacks have damaged infrastructure and increased security risks, making it difficult for ships to unload cargo.
