Ukraine's Agricultural Exports Plunge as Russian Strikes Bite
Russian strikes on Black Sea ports are set to slash Ukraine's agricultural exports by 54%, according to fresh assessments. Expected shipments now stand at roughly 29.6 million tonnes, far below the 64.4 million tonnes projected earlier by Ukraine's Ministry of Agriculture.
The decline in wheat deliveries alone is expected to drop by 53%, falling to 8.3 million tonnes. This comes as a major blow to Ukraine's economy, which relies heavily on its agricultural sector for foreign currency revenues.
Russian attacks on civilian shipping have also escalated concerns, with one person killed and several injured in recent incidents. The current situation highlights the severe dangers confronting Ukraine's agricultural sector amid armed conflict and economic turbulence.
