Ukraine's Agricultural Trade with EU Sees Significant Growth
Trade between Ukraine and the EU has shown significant growth in agricultural goods for the first half of this year, increasing by $847 million or 11% compared to the same period last year. The total trade value reached $8.55 billion.
This positive trend is attributed to a strong trade balance of $3.47 billion. Ukraine's main trading partners in the agricultural sector are Poland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and France, which account for 70% of the combined trade turnover with these countries.
The researchers noted that Ukraine has fully utilized its annual wheat quota provided under updated food trade terms between the two entities. Additionally, high quota utilization rates were recorded for various products such as apple juice (91%), poultry meat (75%, quarterly quotas), eggs in shell and egg products (75% each, quarterly quotas), ethanol (64%), honey (61%), sugar (59%), and sweet corn (59%).
According to Deputy Director of the NSC IAE Mykola Puhachov, this positive trend indicates that trade ties between Ukraine and the EU will continue to strengthen in the near future.
