Ukraine's Diesel Demand Surges as Russian Strikes Disrupt Port Infrastructure
The demand for diesel fuel in Ukraine is increasing due to Russian strikes on port infrastructure. According to Serhiy Kuyun, director of the consulting group 'A-95', this is because part of grain exports are being redirected to road transport.
Kuyun stated that Turkey has begun purchasing diesel from Greek oil refineries after stopping its supply of Russian diesel. This development complicates the market situation for Ukraine as it relied on these supplies in the past.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that large tankers are being bought out at higher prices, leading to cancellations of orders, including those from Ukrainian companies. The cost of freight and ship insurance has increased significantly, making it uncertain whether carriers will be willing to transport goods on the Ukrainian route.
