Ukraine's Drone Strike Takes Out Nearly Half of Russia's Wheat Export Capacity

The Ukrainian strike on Aug. 12 has left Russia's Novorossiysk port without any functioning grain terminals, taking out nearly half of the country's total wheat exports.

KSK, the largest grain terminal in the Black Sea region, handled over 7 million metric tons of grain last year and accounted for 41% of grain exports through the port. The terminal was shut down on Aug. 13 by its owner Delo Group due to safety concerns.

The Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, which has an annual export capacity of 8.5 million metric tons, also suspended operations after sustaining unspecified damage in the strike. NKHP, another major terminal with a capacity of 7.1 million metric tons, was damaged and halted operations as well.
