Ukraine's Drone Strikes Pound Russia's Economy
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has spilled into the economic sphere, with Ukraine's drone strikes causing significant damage to key sectors of the Russian economy.
Russia's oil refineries have been particularly hard hit, with a sharp drop in processing capacity from 5 million barrels per day last year to just 3.8 million in August, according to data firm Energy Aspects.
This has led to fuel shortages and rationing measures, with one of the hottest new smartphone apps in Russia being a crowdsourced tool to help drivers locate gas stations with available fuel.
The Ukrainian campaign has also targeted Russian e-commerce companies Wildberries and Ozon, with over 30 strikes since July causing more than $10 billion in damage to infrastructure and goods, according to estimates from Data Insight.
