Ukraine's Grain Exports Plunge 69.5% Amid Logistical Challenges
Ukraine's agricultural exports have suffered significantly in recent weeks due to logistical challenges. From August 1 to 27, Ukraine exported nearly 1.73 million metric tons of agricultural products, down from 3.29 million metric tons during the same period last month.
This represents a decline of 47.5% compared to July's exports, according to Spike Brokers' weekly market review. The main reason for this decrease is the lack of corn shipments in August, which accounted for nearly 84.3% of the total drop.
The total exports of wheat, corn, and barley fell from nearly 2.43 million metric tons in July to 740,000 metric tons in August, a 69.5% decline. Wheat shipments totaled 486,600 metric tons (-49.8%), corn, 190,700 metric tons (-84.3%), and barley, 62,600 metric tons (-74.5%).
The main destinations for wheat exports were Bangladesh (251,000 metric tons), Indonesia (243,500 metric tons), and Algeria (226,300 metric tons). These three countries accounted for about 74% of total wheat exports.
