Ukraine's Grain Exports Slump Amid Global Market Pressures

Ukraine's grain exports are continuing to trend downward, according to recent data from UkrAgroConsult. As of September 4, Ukraine had exported a total of 3.913 million tons of grains and pulses in the marketing year (MY) 2026/27. This represents a decrease of nearly 14% compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported that wheat exports have been particularly affected, with a total of 1.193 million tons exported as of September 4. This marks a decline of almost 40% from the previous year's export figures. In contrast, corn exports are on the rise, reaching 1.689 million tons.

Rye and barley exports have also seen decreases, with rye exports totaling just 0.2 thousand tons and barley exports at 369 thousand tons as of September 4. Ukrainian flour exports have also been affected, with a total of 13.9 thousand tons exported in the MY 2026/27.

The data suggests that Ukraine's agricultural producers are facing challenges in exporting grains and pulses, despite some increases in certain sectors. The full impact of these trends on global markets remains to be seen.
