Ukraine's Grain Harvest Nears Completion with Over 32 Million Tonnes Collected

Ukraine's farmers are nearing the end of their main harvest season as they finish collecting grain from fields that were planted early. By September 8, a total of 6.85 million hectares had been harvested across Ukraine, which accounts for about 59% of the projected area.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported that wheat, barley, and peas have been almost fully or completely harvested, with average yields ranging from 2.67 to 4.94 tonnes per hectare. The total grain harvest has reached 32.2 million tonnes so far.

The largest share of the harvest comes from wheat, accounting for 24.91 million tonnes. Barley and peas have been almost fully harvested as well, with yields of 4.34 and 2.67 tonnes per hectare respectively.

While grain harvesting is nearing completion, farmers are shifting their focus to late-season crops such as sunflowers and soybeans. Initial results show that the first batches of these oilseed crops have been harvested, with a total of 89,300 tonnes of sunflower seeds collected from 56,000 hectares.
