Ukraine's Impressive Harvest: No Food Shortage Despite War-Related Risks

Ukraine's Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi has assured citizens that the country is not facing a food shortage. The minister cited impressive harvest figures, with farmers collecting roughly 25 million tonnes of wheat, along with 6 million tonnes of barley and more than 3.5 million tonnes of rapeseed.

The total grain harvest for the year is expected to surpass 80 million tonnes, significantly alleviating concerns about food security. Vysotskyi emphasized that there is no reason for food prices to increase, echoing sentiments from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

However, the minister acknowledged that war-related risks could still impact final retail prices. Key factors influencing pricing policies in the agricultural sector include fuel costs, electricity tariffs, logistics, and disruptions to supply chains caused by Russian strikes.
