The global pea market is shifting from record supply to a more balanced supply and demand in 2026/27, according to the International Grains Council. Global production increased by nearly 25% in 2025/26, mainly due to larger crops in Russia and Canada.

Ukraine's pea exports were unusually high at 387 K mt in 2025/26, compared with a 5-year average of 308 K mt. The country's exports increased especially in the second half of the season, supported by stronger demand from Italy, Turkey, and Malaysia.

The main logistics channels for Ukraine's pea exports remain constrained, while the country must find buyers for up to 163 K mt more peas than exported last season. Peas are often exported in smaller lots than wheat or corn, which reduces logistics risk.
