Ukrainian Drone Attack Shuts Down Key Russian Grain Terminals
The southern Russian port of Novorossiysk has been hit by a night attack from Ukrainian drones, causing significant damage to two major grain terminals.
The First Grain Terminal and the Novorossiysk Bread Products Plant, which have an annual capacity of over 15 million tons, are no longer operational after the attack.
Russia is the world's largest exporter of wheat, with a significant portion of its exports passing through Black Sea ports. The damage to these facilities threatens to paralyze Russian grain exports via the Black Sea.
The First Grain Terminal has an export capacity of 8.5 million tons per year, while the Novorossiysk Bread Plant can handle 7.1 million tons annually. Both facilities are assessing the extent of the damage and their ability to resume operations.
