Ukrainian Drone Strikes Halt Grain Exports from Russia's Novorossiysk Terminals
The two largest grain terminals in Russia's southern port of Novorossiysk have been shut down following Ukrainian drone strikes, according to agronews.ua.
Russia is currently the world's largest exporter of wheat, with a significant portion of this export being shipped through its Black Sea ports. Local grain industry experts had warned last month that Ukrainian drone attacks could soon halt Russian grain exports through the Black Sea.
One of the terminals in Novorossiysk, which has an export capacity of 8.5 million metric tons per year, has suspended operations and is undergoing damage assessment. The Demetra holding company, which owns the terminal, stated that it had suffered unspecified damages but declined further comments.
The 'Novorossiysk Grain Plant', with an export capacity of 7.1 million metric tons per year, was also damaged in the attacks and has been shut down. Its main owner, OGP, confirmed that the terminal was damaged but assured no one was injured.
