Ukrainian Farmer Turns Rejected Watermelon Harvest into Fertilizer
A farmer from Zakarpattia province in Ukraine refused to sell his watermelon harvest at a low price and instead used it as fertilizer for his wheat crop.
Vasyl, the farmer, was offered four hryvnias per kilogram, but he decided not to accept it.
Instead of selling the watermelons, Vasyl transported them to a nearby wheat field where they were unloaded and used directly as fertilizer.
The move sparked a wave of discussions among social media users, with some expressing outrage that the juicy harvest was wasted rather than being given to those in need who cannot afford to buy the fruit.
Representatives of the Strong of Defence also took a critical view of the initiative, suggesting that the watermelons could have been donated to the Armed Forces instead of being destroyed.
