Ukrainian Farmers Harvest 31.73 Million Metric Tons of Grain
Ukrainian farmers have made significant progress in harvesting grain from their fields. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as of August 25, farmers had threshed 6.76 million hectares, or 58% of the projected area, and harvested 31.73 million metric tons of grain.
The majority of the harvest came from wheat, with 24.61 million metric tons yielded from 5 million hectares, resulting in an average yield of 49.2 centners per hectare. Barley was also a major contributor, with 6.33 million metric tons harvested from 1.46 million hectares at an average yield of 43.4 centners per hectare.
The Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Dnipropetrovsk regions led in terms of gross harvest volume of grain and legume crops. In the Odesa region, 4.82 million metric tons were harvested from an area of 1.19 million hectares, with wheat accounting for 3.22 million metric tons, barley for 1.31 million metric tons, and peas for 285,000 metric tons.
