Ukrainian Farmers Reap Record-Setting Harvest Amid Strong Yields
Ukrainian farmers have made significant progress in harvesting their new crop, with over 30.8 million metric tons of grain collected as of August 18. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, threshing has been completed on 6.6 million hectares, which accounts for 56% of the projected area.
The average yield per hectare is 46.8 centners, with wheat being the most heavily harvested crop, accounting for 23.8 million metric tons from 4.85 million hectares. Barley and peas are also significant contributors to the total harvest, with 6.2 million metric tons of barley collected from 1.44 million hectares.
The highest grain yields are currently being recorded in the Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Vinnytsia regions, with average yields ranging from 59.5 to 69.9 centners per hectare. Rapeseed has also been harvested from over 1.3 million hectares, yielding 3.7 million metric tons of seeds.
Regionally, the Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Mykolaiv regions are leading in terms of harvest volumes of early grain and legume crops. The highest yields were recorded in these regions as well, with some areas producing over 70 centners per hectare.
