Global food prices reached their highest level since late 2022 in August due to escalating hostilities near Ukrainian ports, where grain is exported.

A report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) noted that concerns about supplies from key producing regions intensified in August.

Prices rose by 1.9% compared to July, primarily driven by grains, sugar, and dairy products.

Sugar prices increased by 11.9%, while wheat prices jumped by 2.6%. Overall, wheat prices are already 15% higher than last year's levels.
