Ukrainian Vegetable Market Sees Dramatic Price Shifts in September
Ukraine's vegetable market has seen significant price changes in September, with some items becoming cheaper and others more expensive. Analysts have summarized the prices at Ukrainian markets for the first week of September.
According to EastFruit, a portal that tracks agricultural news, apples were the top-selling item last week. Meanwhile, white cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, and green onions started to become pricier due to increased demand. However, a lack of supply has led to price drops for flowering and Chinese cabbage, broccoli, carrots, and onions.
Other notable trends include a growing supply of tomatoes, plums, and white cabbage in markets, but prices have not decreased yet. Ukrainians are actively purchasing sugar corn, sweet peppers, pickling tomatoes, and vegetables for a 'borscht set.'
The price increase for cucumbers has been significant, with prices rising to 30-55 UAH/kg. Tomatoes also saw an uptick in price, reaching 25-40 UAH/kg. Eggplants, hot peppers, and fresh herbs have become more expensive as well.
