UN Warns High Fertiliser Prices Threaten Afghanistan's Wheat Harvest
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has issued a warning that soaring fertiliser prices could jeopardise Afghanistan's 2027 wheat harvest, despite favourable growing conditions.
According to the FAO, rising fertiliser costs threaten to reduce yields if farmers cannot afford essential agricultural inputs.
The organisation is appealing for $38.3 million to support up to 600,000 farming households before planting.
