Uniper Lands Long-Term Canadian LNG Deal
Uniper has secured a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Canada's Ksi Lisims LNG project, marking a significant step in strengthening energy ties between Germany and Canada.
The landmark deal will see Uniper purchase 2 million tons of LNG per year on a free-on-board basis for up to 20 years, with the first deliveries expected from 2032. This milestone represents the first major long-term LNG supply arrangement between Canada and Germany.
Ksi Lisims LNG is designed as one of the lowest-emission LNG facilities globally due to its planned use of hydroelectric power to liquefy natural gas, resulting in a 90% lower carbon intensity compared to conventional LNG facilities.
