Germany's Uniper has signed a significant long-term agreement to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada. The deal involves purchasing 2 million tonnes per annum of LNG from the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG project, which is being developed by the Nisga'a Nation and Western LNG.

The first deliveries are expected from 2032, with the agreement set to last for up to 20 years on a free-on-board (FOB) basis. This strengthens Uniper's long-term LNG portfolio and provides destination-flexible cargoes to support European energy security.

Michael Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Uniper, emphasized that this deal is about more than just LNG - it's about diversification and strengthening resilience against future disruptions.
