Uniper Signs Major Long-Term LNG Deal with Northwest B.C. Facility
A proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Northwest B.C. has signed a major long-term export deal with German energy company Uniper.
The agreement, announced on July 29, 2026, will see Uniper purchase two million tonnes per year of LNG from the Ksi Lisims facility, which is currently awaiting a final investment decision.
This deal brings the total contracted capacity to 7 Mtpa out of a projected 12 Mtpa total capacity. Western LNG, one of the project's backers, has stated that it needs commitments of 80-90% of capacity for a final investment decision.
The Ksi Lisims facility will be supplied by the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission pipeline, which is currently under construction and facing legal challenges in the B.C. Supreme Court.
