Enugu United Palm Products Limited (UPPL), a public-private partnership between Pragmatic Palms Limited and Enugu State government, has started commercial production of palm oil in Nigeria. The company is investing around $2.2 million in a plant that will refine crude palm oil and palm kernel oil.

The restored plantations, located in Ibite-Olo, Umulokpi, and Ugwu-Oba, cover more than 1,000 hectares of land. UPPL's managing director, Professor George Nwangwu, said the company is gradually replacing old palm trees, some of which are over 50 years old.

UPPL has launched the EVOP palm oil brand, with products available in open markets and supermarkets in Nigeria. The company aims to enter the Nigerian stock market within four years, as promised by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah.
