The Houthis claimed to have struck the tankers, Encelia and Layla, causing fires on both vessels. There were no reports of casualties. This move is seen as a double whammy on top of the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump threatened 'major military punishment' against the Houthis if their attacks on ships continue. The US Central Command said its latest strikes aimed to degrade Iran's ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters.
