The conflict between the US and Iran has escalated further, as both countries engage in military strikes against each other's interests. On Wednesday, Iran launched a barrage of missiles at American forces in the Middle East, while the US partnered with Saudi Arabia to strike Tehran-backed militias in neighboring Iraq.

The missile attack on Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti Air Base was intercepted and destroyed by Jordan's military, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage. However, the strikes in eastern Iraq killed at least 20 fighters and six Iranian advisers, according to the Popular Mobilization Forces.

The US-Saudi airstrikes were in response to alleged drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities, which have been attributed to Iran-backed militias. The strikes have raised concerns about a return to all-out war, with oil prices spiking by 3.1% to $84.58 per barrel.
