US and Iran Sign Interim Ceasefire Deal, Open Path for Permanent Truce
US and Iranian leaders have signed an interim agreement to end their war, extending a ceasefire by another 60 days. The memorandum, signed digitally in English and Farsi, includes commitments from both sides to negotiate a final deal within the same timeframe.
The agreement, negotiated during the G7 summit in France, aims to bring peace to the Middle East and lower oil prices. US President Donald Trump warned that military action could resume if Iran violates its commitments, stating 'We're going to bomb the hell out of them if they violate the agreement.'
Iranian officials celebrated the agreement as a major achievement, with lead negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf saying Tehran had achieved its goals through negotiations rather than military action. The deal includes provisions for releasing frozen Iranian funds and allowing exports of crude oil under temporary measures.
