US-based Kalshi Launches Gold and Silver Perpetual Futures Contracts
Kalshi, a US-based crypto derivatives exchange, has launched gold and silver perpetual futures contracts in the United States. The platform received regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to list these contracts on September 10, 2026.
The launch of these contracts comes after Kalshi recorded a cumulative notional volume of $44 billion in its crypto perpetual derivatives since late May 2026. Commodity-linked prediction contracts surpassed $400 million in volume during their first seven months.
According to Udesh Jha, Chief Risk Officer of the clearinghouse KalshiClear, the selection of these assets responded to growing demand for inflation-hedging instruments. Precious metals offer an ideal vehicle for investors seeking direct exposure without holding the physical asset.
Kalshi's perpetual futures contracts are structured to trade continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unlike conventional futures contracts, perpetuals have no set expiration date or physical settlement, eliminating recurring monthly rollover costs.
