US Claims Control of Strait of Hormuz Amid Ongoing Blockade

The White House claims that US forces have secured control of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing nearly 1,500 commercial vessels to transport 750 million barrels of crude oil through the waterway.

This assertion comes as part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to limit Iran's revenue and protect global commerce. The White House cites former government officials and analysts who argue that alternative pipelines, US energy exports, and protected shipping have reduced Iran's ability to disrupt the global oil market.

According to the statement, 75 vessels attempting to break the blockade were turned around, and Iran has exported no oil from its shores since the blockade resumed in July. The administration maintains that it plans to maintain pressure until Iran can no longer threaten international commerce or project power abroad.
