US Core Inflation Matches Forecasts as Global Interest Rates Rise
The US core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index rose by 0.2% month-on-month in July, matching forecasts and up from the previous reading of 0.1%. Year-over-year, the index increased by 3.3%, aligning with expectations.
Meanwhile, the Bank of Korea raised its benchmark interest rate from 2.75% to 3.00%, marking a second consecutive rate hike in line with market predictions.
In the non-ferrous metal sector, copper inventories on the Shanghai Futures Exchange decreased by 4,028 tonnes to 34,591 tonnes as of August 26. Global alumina production in July 2026 was 12.927 million tonnes, down from 13.182 million tonnes in the same period last year.
