US Corn Exports Soar as Wheat Shipments Falter
US corn export shipments continue to gain momentum as the country's grain industry reports consistently strong global demand. According to the USDA's Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS), corn export inspections rose nearly 23% in a week, reaching 1.9 million tons by July 30.
This marks a 45.4% increase from the same period last year and brings the total US corn exports inspected since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year to 77.3 million tons - an increase of 25.4% compared to the same period in the previous year.
In contrast, wheat export inspections remain under pressure, with a 19.7% decline from the previous week and a 51.4% drop compared to the corresponding week last year. Since the beginning of the 2026/27 marketing year, only 2.9 million tons of US wheat have undergone export inspection - a decrease of 27.4% year on year.
The difference in demand between corn and wheat highlights the distinct market dynamics at play for these two major US grain crops.
