US Crude Oil Production Projected to Reach Record 13.8 MMbpd in 2026
According to the US Energy Information Administration's Short-Term Energy Outlook, American crude oil production is projected to reach a record average of 13.8 million barrels per day (MMbpd) in 2026.
This would surpass the previous annual high of 13.7 MMbpd set in 2025, driven by continued expansion in the Permian basin and growth from new developments in the federal Gulf of America.
The Permian region across Texas and New Mexico is expected to see a 3% rise in production to 6.8 MMbpd, fueled by stronger oil prices and sustained drilling activity.
