US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
The US military said it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to attacks on its warships. The strikes occurred after Iran's Revolutionary Guards targeted a Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over the past two days.
The US Central Command said the military struck the tankers, including the Kivik and Charminar, in the Gulf of Oman. The crews were told to abandon ship before the attacks.
Iran's state-run media reported that U.S. forces attacked Iranian oil tankers near the southern port of Jask and near Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf.
