US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
The US military has escalated its conflict with Iran by destroying five Iranian crude oil tankers. The strikes targeted vessels linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to US Central Command.
The tankers were located in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island, a well-known Iranian oil depot. Four of the tankers were destroyed on September 8, while the fifth was hit the day before.
The US military claims it issued a warning to crews beforehand, telling them to abandon ship. It's unclear if anyone was still aboard the vessels when they were struck.
