US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions
The United States military has destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack a U.S. warship with ballistic missiles.
According to the U.S. Central Command, over the past two days, Iranian forces twice attempted to launch missile strikes against a U.S. Navy ship, but the vessel evaded the attacks and no American service members were injured.
The IRGC had threatened retaliatory strikes after the U.S. attacked several Iranian tankers linked to the IRGC, with one tanker struck near the main oil terminal on Kharg Island and another near the port of Jask in the Gulf of Oman.
