US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions

The US military has destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to recent attacks on its warships. The move comes amid rising tensions between the two nations, with Iran launching missiles towards U.S. targets in Jordan after the American strikes.

The US Central Command said it had no information to offer on the situation, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the US would not allow Iran's attacks to go unanswered.

Danny Citrinowicz, an Iran expert at Israel's Institute for National Security Studies, warned that such back-and-forth strikes can only risk more retaliation and further impact to the global economy.
