US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers in Escalating Conflict
The US military has struck five Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran's attempts to hit a US warship with ballistic missiles over the past two days.
According to U.S. Central Command, the crews of the vessels were told to abandon ship before the attacks, and no American personnel were harmed.
The tankers destroyed in the attack were the Kivik, Charminar, Horizon 1, Riesco, and Derya, which were located in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
This is not the first time the US has taken action against Iranian oil tankers - just three days ago, U.S. forces destroyed three Iranian oil tankers after Iran's Revolutionary Guards tried to attack a US aircraft carrier and destroyer.
