US Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers in Escalating Middle East Conflict
The US has destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in response to recent missile attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The strikes were carried out after the IRGC fired ballistic missiles at an American warship in the Middle East twice in the past two days, with no harm to American troops.
Centcom said that the US ship targeted by Iran evaded the attacks and that crews were ordered to abandon their vessels before they were struck and rendered inoperable.
The destroyed tankers were part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network used by Tehran to avoid Western sanctions on its oil, according to Centcom.
