US Destroys Iranian Oil Tankers in Response to Missile Attacks
The US military has confirmed that it disabled three Iranian oil tankers in response to missile attacks on two US Navy warships. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that no American personnel were injured during the attacks.
The vessels targeted by the US forces were part of a 'multibillion-dollar shadow network' allegedly used to finance the IRGC and its regional proxies, according to CENTCOM. The M/T Downy was disabled off the coast of Kharg Island, while the M/T Stark 1 was targeted near Jask.
The unladen tanker M/T Kylo, also known as 'Noxen', was destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew abandoned ship. CENTCOM stated that the US forces successfully evaded multiple Iranian attacks and were able to disable the tankers without sustaining any casualties.
