US Diesel Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Rising Oil Production
National diesel prices in the US have reached an all-time high of $6.23 per gallon, while Kansas diesel averages $5.91 a gallon, also a record.
Regular gasoline is over $4.31 per gallon across the US, and $3.94 in Kansas, which is up 18 cents from last week and more than a dollar higher than a year ago.
The government reports that US oil production has reached its largest weekly average ever, at 13.947 million barrels per day, with Texas producing over 5.7 million barrels daily.
The crack spread, which is the difference between crude oil and refined product prices, has contributed to higher fuel costs due to global disruptions in refining, particularly in the Middle East, Russia, and China.
