The price of diesel fuel in the United States has broken through $6 per gallon for the first time, according to data from GasBuddy.
This milestone marks a new all-time high for diesel prices, which are being driven up by rising crude oil costs. Brent crude oil is trading around $105 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil has surpassed $100 per barrel for the first time since May.
The escalating military strikes in the Middle East between the US and Iran are contributing to the increase in crude oil prices, with Goldman Sachs warning that prices could reach $120 per barrel if tensions intensify.
