US Diesel Prices Soar Past $6 per Gallon Amid Ongoing Global Tensions
Diesel prices in the US have surged past $6 per gallon on average, with the national average at nearly $6.06 as of Friday.
This marks a new record high and is up from $5.85 last week and almost $3.71 this time last year, according to motor club AAA.
The higher diesel prices mean more expensive transportation for everyday goods, with perishable foods like meat and produce facing the most immediate strain due to frequent hauling needs or farm equipment powered by fuel.
As crude oil prices have renewed their climb amid supply chain disruptions in the Middle East, particularly with Saudi oil production at a three-decade low last month, diesel prices are unlikely to come down soon.
