US Ditches Airstrikes for Economic Pressure on Iran

The US has announced that it will refrain from launching additional airstrikes on Iran for now and focus on economic sanctions and a maritime blockade instead.

According to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the US does not expect to launch new attacks on Iran 'for the time being', as reported by Axios on August 25.

The new approach aims to intensify pressure on Iran through financial sanctions and a maritime blockade, which has weakened Iran's ability to influence global energy markets.

US officials believe that clearing mines from most of the Strait of Hormuz and increasing oil shipments through the strait have given the US control over it, while blocking Iranian oil exports.
