US Ditches Strikes, Favors Economic War On Iran
The US has announced that it will not launch further strikes against Iran 'for the time being', according to reports. Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed several foreign counterparts of this decision, citing a shift in strategy towards economic pressure instead.
Rubio reportedly told his counterparts that Washington now favors sanctions and a naval blockade targeting Iranian exports, rather than military action. This move is intended to sharply reduce Tehran's ability to disrupt global energy markets by controlling the Strait of Hormuz and crippling Iran's oil revenue.
US officials believe that mine-clearing operations across much of the waterway have reduced Iran's ability to disrupt global energy markets. 'The Iranians have lost control of the strait. The United States now controls it,' one official said.
