$US Dollar Reaches Two-Week High on Renewed Middle East Tensions
The US dollar reached its highest level in two weeks on Wednesday, as renewed fighting in the Middle East drove up oil prices and increased concerns over inflation.
The dollar index rose 0.11% to 99.79, with the euro falling 0.13% to $1.1577.
Kumiko Ishikawa, a currency analyst at Sony Financial Group, said 'there is a need to remain vigilant about the situation in the Middle East today.'
Oil prices rose on Wednesday, with Brent crude futures up 1.15% at $95.74 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.85% to $91.05.
