US Dollar Strength Pushes Down Gold and Silver Prices
Gold and silver futures closed lower on Monday, as investors weighed their options amidst a strengthening US dollar.
The price of gold for December delivery dropped by 1.29% to settle at $4,351.90 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while silver futures for December delivery lost 1.61% to close at $64.138 per ounce.
The US dollar index rose by 0.27% to 99.388, measuring the greenback against six major peers. This strength put downward pressure on gold and silver prices.
